Bachelor Juan Episode 10: No Juan Wants to Talk to Me

Hello, Readers.  Can you feel it?  That's the hair on the back of your anxious necks standing on end in anticipation of Some Guy's Final Take on the Final Take of this Season's Bachelor.

Man, was it a doozy.  Clare found her spine, Harrison's claws came out, Juan Pablo lost his charm, and Nikki lost my respect.  It was like an F-ed up version of the Wizard of Oz--well, minus little people in degrading costumes and a black and white beginning.

The post is in the works and should be up later this evening or no later than coffee time tomorrow morning.  In the meantime, feel free to continue our robust Twitter discussion from last night in the comments section below while appreciating this message to Juan Pablo.

Hasta Luego.

  1. That was a crazy 3 hours of "reality" TV...I clapped, I yelled at the TV, I threw some popcorn at the TV and ended up so so confused about the "status" of the "relationship"...oh Nee-kee :(

  2. After the very first episode, when you picked Nikki as the the "winner", I thought you were crazy. Most of the season, I didn't see it, especially since she flew under the radar for the first few episodes. Please tell us what you saw in her that made you pick her! I am amazed by your spot on perceptions of this show, yet still befuddled by what I have witnessed. I'm a long time reader of your blog (and thoroughly enjoy ALL of your posts), but it's this prediction of Nikki that has forced me to comment. To say that I'm excited for this recap would be a vast understatement. Love your blog, DP.

    1. The show is fairly transparent, I think. Nikki was a good guess. Granted, an educated one, but JP wasn't exactly a riddle wrapped in a conundrum. DP

  3. I am also excited to hear your take kind sir. That was the weirdest thing ever! Poor Nikki, but though I was never a Clare fan I am so glad she stuck it to him! But as always on this show, if the night before you still don't KNOW you have issues.... Leigh in the ATL (excited bachelorette is gonna be here!!!)

    1. Nikki shouldn't be characterized as "poor" anymore. She's going into this with enough information to know what's up.

  4. I want to find out how you pegged Nikki as the winner also--you've teased us too long with it! I've enjoyed your blog for a long time and can't wait to read what you thought about last night. The finale and After the Final Rose definitely lived up to the hype this time! Most definitely not boring or same ole same Bachelor ending.

  5. Dang, I'm not looking forward to hitting Guy in Austin withdrawal during the painful window between now and the new Bachelorette. Fingers crossed that you'll offer incisive, intelligent, and creepily prescient commentary on some other trashy reality show until then.

    1. Thank you. Very much. I'm sure you'll find something to dull that pain. Lone Star Beer works. DP

  7. it's strange. before reading anything online to alter my apparently malleable opinion, I felt like JP was being a douche, Nikki was being a bizarre Stepford head bobber and Clare, well, she was gaining ground with me. Then I read some online blather and found myself rooting for a scenario that the Fleiss machine had tried to turn the screws on JP and he basically told Fleiss, in his contractually-bound way, to F off. I like that better than assuming that a newly unveiled Serious Douche Canoe future was all that was in store for Nikki. I'd like to think her smirk and his belligerence was their taking a stand against the machine. Alisa in Colorado

  8. You guys know that there's a blogger who posts spoilers for each season, don't you? He posted the final 4, final 2 and winner, along with a lot of episode details as far back as November. Even if Some Guy didn't read this other blog, someone could have spilled it.

    1. We all know about Reality Stan and the 1000 other bloggers, writers who get the show early. I don't read them. I'm lucky this season. Period. I've been wrong most of the others.

  9. I missed most of this season on purposed because I couldn't stand Juan Pablo and thought he was an awful choice for the Bachelor. Never missed your blogs and was familiar with the players. I finally decided to watch the hometown/fantasy dates and last night's finale. What an insensitive egotistical jerk. I don't care if they say he was poorly edited and made to look bad. What came out of his mouth was unedited, he is rude and full of himself, doesn't respect women, and thinks they are all in love with him. Hi true colors came out when he made that comment after Clare walked away from the podium. Geesh, what an ass.

I read in two different sites today that what JP was alluding to when he told CH things had changed, it was about Dancing with the Stars. The rumor is he really wanted to be on the show, but then started making rude comments about gays and other stupid things that went viral and ABC took the DWTS offer off the table. Apparently that teed him off big time and the gloves were off.

Can't wait to hear why you picked Nikki as the winner, although in my opinion she didn't win anything. The girl has no self respect, looked kind of sad last night.

  10. Some Guy,

Can you comment on the implications for Andi's career? Being a prosecutor seems like a serious profession that you couldn't just up and leave twice in a 12 month period if you cared about having a job in the future. How and why do people do this?

    1. No idea. If I took 45 days off and then another 45, I wouldn't have a job. The possibility of fame is a big draw for most people. The opportunity to travel the world for free twice in one year and get your ass kissed doing it is--even the most cynical of us would have to admit---an extremely rare one. She's 26. I don't blame her for going. She'll have her law license when she returns. DP
